MOXIE LIGHTING
REPRESENTING NEW YORK’S LIGHTING COMMUNITY ‘CAUSE THERE IS MORE TO LIGHTING THAN JUST LIGHTS
REPRESENTING NEW YORK’S LIGHTING COMMUNITY ‘CAUSE THERE IS MORE TO LIGHTING THAN JUST LIGHTS
Are you looking to connect with the lighting community in a meaningful way? The industry has gone through all of its phases of progression and inclusivity. Today we have a number of our groups within the community to provide the connection desired to further comradery.
ENTER, OUR TOP FOUR LIGHTING ORGANIZATIONS:
DLFNY, Equity in Lighting, NACLIQ, and Flint Collective
Think of them as sub-societies that fill in gaps within the greater lighting society. If you would like to expand your lighting knowledge, DLFNY has got you covered from tours to community discussions on predicaments or improvements made within lighting design. If you are in need of some LGBTQI+ representation, NACLIQ is on your side. See below for more details. Do you want to address diversity, proper representation, or lack-there-of? Equity in Lighting is pushing to eliminate that dilemma one step at a time. Flint Collective is for you if you are a little artsy and like a good light-art installation that plays with light and color in a way that is uncommon and experimental in typical architectural projects.
These four are currently on Moxie’s radar and have at least one member from our team involved in the community in some compacity. It is intrinsically important to us to give back to the community in a way it has given to all of us.
The bread and butter of the lighting industry for professional development and furthering education. A vibrant community of lighting designers, architects, interior designers, teachers, and students who are passionate about lighting.
Hate and exclusion have no place in the lighting community. EIL’s goal is to increase the diversity within the community so it may better reflect the state of our country.
NACLIQ is dedicated to uniting all gender and sexual minorities in the lighting industry to address important issues such as workplace and hiring discrimination
A collective group of designers transforming the public spaces of NYC one step at a time. Skilled creative enactivists, spatial storytellers, and community catalysts.
